By trading yo-yo dieting and lack of exercise for the Fitness Maniacs lifestyle, Wendy lost over 20kg and has kept it off! Having experienced weight issues from childhood through to her mid-30’s, Wendy was finally motivated to make a lasting change. Dieting was never a problem, and losing weight came easy, but the problem was that most of the weight would creep back on with every dieting spell.
She longed to increase her fitness levels and to be able to run short distances, but the thought of going to gym was too daunting. The wake-up call for Wendy came at the age of 35 years, “I was tired of being uncomfortable and battling to find clothes that fitted me properly. Special occasions became a nightmare because I was never comfortable in any outfit I wore. I avoided having photos taken, seeing myself was too upsetting”.
In January 2009 Wendy walked into a gym for the first time, signed up with a personal trainer and the rest is history. Her trainer educated her on the fundamentals of functional training and healthy eating practices. Soon after, Wendy fell pregnant with her second child. With a newfound appreciation for gym, Wendy trained throughout her pregnancy and lost her pregnancy weight within 4 months after the birth of her daughter, Katy. “I have made a commitment to myself to never stop improving, I continue to train at least 4 times a week, and although I still have weight to lose, I have maintained my weight loss for over 2 years”.
In November 2009 Wendy joined the Fitness Maniacs Team, participating in her first 12 week Transformation Challenge in January 2010. Wendy attributes her 6kg weight loss over 12 weeks to the lifestyle changes she has made, seeking out healthier food options and prioritising her gym sessions. Wendy, a mother of two, wife to David, and a business owner would have every excuse in the past to miss training sessions, but fueled by a new fit and slim version of herself, Wendy’s personal motto in life is “No Excuses!”.
When asked what motivates her, she replies without hesitation…”Once I had made the decision to make a lifestyle change, there was no turning back! Being a part of the Fitness Maniacs Team has given me the support that I have needed to achieve my goals. Seeing others succeed and achieve their goals has been a great motivator for me”.
The Fitness Maniacs Team strives to keep every training session fun, effective and upbeat. The goal is to ensure that participants look forward to and enjoy every
session they attend. “It is my passion to assist others in achieving the health goals that they set for themselves. I have travelled this road myself and this enables me to empathise and assist participants in their own transformation journey”.
